The future of in-vehicle networking technologies – survey results
In-vehicle networking (IVN) is essential for the functioning of cars today and will remain to do so in the future. With the continuing increase of electronics and electronic control units (ECUs), the market for IVN-technologies is diversifying and the number of deployed and offered technologies is growing. As has been pointed out in a previous article (see HANSER automotive 10/15) this leads to new challenges in respect to handling and maintaining these IVN-technologies. In order to ascertain the situation of different players in the industry, we conducted a small survey among car manufacturers, Tier 1s and semiconductor vendors, on their position and views in respect to IVN-technologies. The results were publicly presented at the HANSER automotive networks conference in November 2015. This article explains the survey results in full detail.
